Goldmorr Master Technician Information
Aside from a water intrusion event such as flooding, leaking roofs, damaged pipes or hot water systems etc, the most common cause of mould comes from air exchange issues. Air exchange issues arise when excess humidity is present. This is very common at times when the outside air is cooler than the inside air. This will result in condensation and subsequently an excess of moisture inside your home.In the winter months, this is very common with the use of furnaces and heaters. They warm up the air inside the dwelling, be it an office or a home, and if the outside air is cold we start to see moisture on the inside of the windows. We have all seen what happens when you leave a milk carton out on your counter , condensation forms on the exterior of the bottle or carton and before long it is sitting in a puddle of water.Technically, the temperature at which the condensation starts to form is called Dew Point. In the summer months, humidity due to weather will cause similar conditions to those that are present during the winter months that contribute to the ideal conditions for the growth of mould. The reason that we see mould starting to form and quickly get out of control, is simply because mould spores are everywhere.25% of the earth’s biomass is made up of different kinds of mould and mould spores . The spores are very small and float in the air. They are carried on clothing, they can enter the structure by simply coming in on a breeze. They may be present in furnishings, plants or even food that has formed mould colonies such as those seen on outdated bread or fruit .To flourish, they simply need the right conditions. This includes moisture, which, as mentioned previously, can come from excess humidity within the structure. Your Goldmorr professional will advise you on ways that you can reduce the excess moisture and humidity within your structure which will aid in keeping mould at bay.

The Causes Of Mold In Homes Or Business
Mold is a type of fungus that thrives in the form of multi-cellular filaments that are called hyphae. Common examples of molds include: Cladosporium, Penicillium, Alternaria, and Aspergillus. They are responsible for a number of health problems such as: nasal and sinus congestions, runny noses, eye irritations, watery eyes, respiratory problems, coughs, throat irritations, skin irritations, headaches, sneezing and sneezing fits. For the molds to thrive, they require: mold spores; food sources such as wood, cotton or drywall; darkness; warmth; oxygen; moisture such as water leaks, or humidity; and enough time (a minimum of 24-48 hours if the environment is conducive).A confluence of factors is responsible for the growth and proliferation of mold damage in the homes and businesses. These are:
High Humidity Levels
Humidity is the measure of the amount of water vapor that is contained in the atmosphere. Excessive humidity does enhance the growth and proliferation of molds because they provide the favorable conditions required. This problem is more profound in areas that are adjacent to water bodies such as beaches.
Leakages in Plumbing
Plumbing refers to the mechanism by which water is circulated within a building structure. It includes such things as water pipes, drainage pipes, and toilets. Any leakages in these structures do provide the required amount of water for the growth and the subsequent proliferation of molds.
Damp Surfaces
Surfaces of homes and businesses that are prone to dampening such as kitchen floors and walls; basement areas; bathroom walls and floors; and toilets are also responsible for the proliferation of Baltimore mold damage because of the ready availability of the much needed moisture.
